Music, Vinyl & Hi-Fi
Collecting sounds, discovering music, and sharing the joy of listening.
Music is one of my biggest passions. I love discovering new artists, exploring different genres, and finding recordings that make me stop and think, "That sounds incredible — I need to share this with someone."
My musical tastes are eclectic, but I have a particular fascination with jazz, especially Japanese jazz, alongside classical, electronic, Latin music, soul, and experimental sounds.
I enjoy everything about physical music: browsing record shops, discovering unfamiliar albums, appreciating album artwork, and sitting down to listen to a record from beginning to end.
My Record Collection
My vinyl collection is steadily growing, currently at around 70 records, with a mix of new and second-hand finds.
I'm particularly drawn to Japanese jazz and audiophile recordings, and enjoy exploring labels such as Three Blind Mice, Blue Note, ECM, and CTI. Artists like Ryo Fukui, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, Bill Evans, and John Coltrane are part of my ongoing musical exploration.
I also collect CDs and use streaming to discover new music before deciding what deserves a place in my physical collection.
For me, collecting isn't about owning every pressing or building an enormous library. It's about finding music that resonates with me, discovering unexpected sounds, and building a collection I genuinely enjoy listening to.
My Hi-Fi System
I have a dedicated stereo system that combines the tactile experience of analogue playback with the convenience of modern digital audio.
My listening setup:
| Component | Equipment |
|---|---|
| Turntable | Rega Planar 3 |
| Cartridge | Rega Nd3 |
| Phono preamplifier | Rega Fono MM MK5 |
| Stereo receiver | Denon DRA-900H |
| Speakers | Wharfedale Linton Heritage |
| CD player | FiiO |
| Digital streaming | Apple TV 4K with Apple Music Lossless |
| Headphones | Focal Bathys |
I appreciate the engineering and design behind good audio equipment, but ultimately it's all about the music.
I love hearing the subtle details of an instrument, the interplay between musicians, the texture of a recording, or the way a piece of music builds from something delicate into an incredible crescendo.
Sharing the Discoveries
I'm exploring ways to share my musical discoveries through short-form content, celebrating vinyl, CDs, and the pleasure of discovering something new.
The idea is simple: listen to something interesting, explore what makes it special, and share that excitement with someone else.
The first experiment is Morning Listening, a reel series made with reelkit.
No rigid genre boundaries, no audiophile gatekeeping. Just great music, curiosity, and the enthusiasm of saying:
"Oye, Play This!"
